The CJWU provided me with legal assistance when I was interviewed by the Police, after an incident at work. I felt supported by the experienced Solicitor that was provided. The advice and support provided by he CJWU’s legal team was excellent and resulted in the investigation being dropped by the Police. Thank you

I used the legal advice number today, I have to say they where brilliant the help and knowledge they gave me was excellent and anything they didn’t know they was able to find out next to immediately I would happily recommend them to anyone needing help, my problem was a personal issue not a work-related issue and they where very respectful during the entire process. Brilliant team you have picked to represent CJWU ?

I couldn’t be more impressed by the service I received from my CJW Union Representative. I was in a miserable situation, I was working on a badly managed wing and had no support from my line manager. Eventually, I got some respite by volunteering for other duties. My line manager took this personally and told me he was putting me on performance management.

I was walked through the grievance process and supported the whole way through. I was represented during the investigation following the grievance where My CJWU rep spoke about all of the processes that were missed and the failure to support me with even the basic mandatory actions.

My CJW Union rep explained how I should have been managed and highlighted all the mismanagement and mistakes my line manager had made. Pointed out where he failed to support and develop me.

Following the process, I was moved wings away from the manager and given a mentor to help my progression to SO. Quite a turn around.

I’m now happy in and out of work. So glad I made the switch. If I hadn’t I would probably have left the job. Thank you!

Today I had a formal attendance review at my establishment with the Governing Governor as I had a lot of absences over he past year due to my mental health and a recent diagnosis. I was looking at dismissal. My CJWU rep, Mark Hodgkinson, went through the FARM pack and built a case around how the establishment had offered no evidence of support for me when I first told them I was struggling. He was honest with me the whole way through the process, and offered me a lot of support, as it is a very stressful process. His knowledge of policy was second to none, which re-assured me I was in the best hands possible. He managed to help me secure a temporary re-grade with pay protection so I can concentrate on getting back to full health again and return to my operational role. I cannot thank him or the CJWU enough so their support and understanding in this whole process. I am still employed, and it feels like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

What can I say about the CJWU? The normal stuff ? Were there when I needed them? Answered my prayers? Got me off my disciplinary? Yes to all of the above but in a way that didn’t make me feel like I was a bad person. They did it without a second thought. I’m an inherent worrier that beats themselves up harder than anyone in a governors position. I have a theory that if I don’t try to find a better way of doing something, then I’m the one who’s failing.

I contacted Mike (Rolfe), told him what was happening, he contacted Aaron (Stowe) our area rep, he contacted me immediately and I gave him the bare bones. My history, my feelings, everything laid bare. Between those two amazing people, they did more for me in 48 hours than the previous union had done in 2 months.

My previous rep was on shielding. Not one of the other reps or chairman, secretary asked me if I needed help. They didn’t ask how I was. The area rep emailed me after the date of my taped investigation asking me how it went. I didn’t need to reply. I had Aaron with me. Whilst awaiting a decision he messaged me many times asking if I was ok, (knowing I stressed), if he could do anything and to contact him if I needed him.

He’s been amazing and luckily for me, the fact he asked the right questions in the taped interview, I’m sure progressed the case to the right result.

The only thing I would say to you is, these staff, knowledgeable staff will assist you and progress you with the right intentions and information. It will without a doubt be the best change you can make.

They made my life a lot easier and less stressful knowing they were there beside me not behind me.

It will be the best decision you make.

I would just like to thank Tony (Merricks) for his ongoing support through what has been a difficult time. He has been amazing and has kept me going when I thought things were not worth fighting for. I have had a grievance hearing today with Tony in attendance and what a guy he is! He knows what he is on about and I couldn’t have done today without him. He is truly one of the good guys and I just think that he is an absolute diamond. Very knowledgeable and has made me feel so much better about what I’ve been going through. Hopefully we get the outcome we want from today. I am so glad and thankful for the CJWU. You guys are the best. So thank you.
